I'm under the weather on this Monday. Fortunately, I received this video from a reader in my emailbox this morning that is guaranteed to make you smile. Thanks Kay!

Cinderella's Castle Is On Fire

Okay, so the castle isn't in any danger. But when there are wildfires in Southern California that means that Cinderella is locked into the dungeon for 16-18 hours a day keeping the locals up-to-date on evacuations, road closures and scorched earth. I hope you and yours are well. Cinderella will be back when the firestorm is over...

Cinderellavision

via videosift.com

In an effort to make you feel better in these trying times...Cinderellavision brings you a clip of an Iraq war vet returning home after 14 months away to be greeted by his two best friends. I hope it makes your day the way it made mine. In the end, it's the little things that matter the most.

'Lord, let me be the person that my dog thinks I am.'

Daily Hot Flash

"No, I just want to stay on, and wear the pretty clothes, and get made up, and enjoy myself."

  • The incredibly talented 82-year-old Cloris Leachman has got it all -- including an attitude that's hard to beat. I'm going to try to apply that to all aspects of my life. By the way -- Kim Kardashian, whose only talent is on display in an Internet sex tape -- was sent packing last night. So sorry!

  • I was devastated when I heard that my hero, Heather Locklear, had been busted for driving under the influence over the weekend. She's been struggling with a lot of stuff lately -- and let's face it, aging isn't easy -- even when you look like Heather Locklear. So I wasn't exactly surprised when I learned that there is more to the story.

  • Just what we need in the White House, a big fat crybaby who probably needs to wear adult diapers.

  • Is your blood pressure a little low today? Here's a great way to rev up your engine...Sarah Palin's thoughts on feminism and homosexuality brought to us by the fine chicks at Jezebel.com.

  • And just so you know -- Sarah Palin isn't going to be the toughest chick on the stage on Thursday night.

  • I take this note from a Nobel literature judge as a challenge. I hope you do too.

Daily Hot Flash

  • Cinderella wears Leopard skin slippers? Well, just maybe. With so much negative energy in the air these days, I thought it'd be nice to focus on the positive for as long as possible today. So here's some chicks who should be much more inspirational to us than any ersatz beauty queen cum politician.

  • Poor Sarah Palin. She went from everyone's darling to everyone's embarrassment...overnight. And yesterday I heard her making fun of Joe Biden's age. A woman over 40 should know better...I hope he isn't nice to her just because she's a girl.

  • Did you get the email forward from one of your friends? Here's a little bit of background...

  • House Republicans don't like it when a girl points fingers and calls them names...but they showed her by tanking the entire country's economy. So there! I'm surprised they didn't steal her Silly Putty during recess and shove it into the radiator so she couldn't play with it anymore.

  • I had no idea that when I moved to the suburbs, I was a trendsetter.

  • I've just spent the past two months taking online health 'coaching' and playing interactive games in order to get health insurance from my employer. I can't imagine working for a company that actually recognizes that I'm a person...let alone a woman.

Daily Hot Flash

  • Brilliant! Let's postpone Caribou Barbie and Joe Biden's debate too...I hope John McCain realizes that a girl who went to six schools in five years is not going to get any smarter any time soon.

  • They're calling her a 'game changer.' I think she's more like 'the closer.' Rock on, Rachel

  • The Food Network's lovely semi-homemade Sandra Lee is getting her own magazine. This girl knows how to throw together a great meal without having to go all gourmet.

  • I would do anything for an afternoon of shopping in New York City with Tim Gunn. In my fantasy, we would go to some funky little women's clothing stores where he knows the designers. He would help me select a few key items for my wardrobe that would make me feel fantabulous every single day. After our fantasy shopping trip, we would have vanilla lattes and split a dessert at a cozy sidewalk cafe. Ok, back to reality...

Morning Hot Flash September 3, 2008

Mama Mia!

I don't know if this is really cool...or just a dude who's too scared to have a little competition in the room.

I feel certain that my invitation has been lost in the mail. George wouldn't have a party without me, would he?

Seriously! Sarah Palin is making me tired of my own name, but the controversy surrounding the addition of the Alaskan National Guard Commander in Chief to the Republican presidential ticket continues.

Do we want a guy in the White House who makes impulsive decisions? When I was kid my dad used to get pissed off when he got lost in the car. He'd refuse to stop and ask for direction and would just keep driving the wrong way for miles and miles. It was one of my Dad's only annoying character traits and is the fodder for great stories that my mom and I laugh about now, but is it good for the entire country to be in a car that's being driving by a man blinded by his own anger? The Washington Post has a great article about McCain's last minute decision and Palin's hasty vetting. Meanwhile, the prediction market is making odds that Palin'll gracefully withdraw soon.

I give it until noon today before
"The Eagleton Scenario" is snapped up by Tom Cruise in a development deal in Hollywood. If only for the great title!

Barack Obama took on the opposition party straight on. John McCain was scheduled to give an exclusive interview to Larry King this week, but his campaign told the news network they thought Campbell Brown's recent interview with spokesman Tucker Bounds was "over the line." I was a big fan of Campbell when she was a rising star at NBC News. She seems to have grown and matured at CNN, and her fiesty interview with Bounds proves it. You go, sister ! And by the way, when Bounds says that both of the candidates on the Republican ticket have 'military experience,' I laugh -- loud, long and heartily. Peep it here...

Morning Hot Flash September 1, 2008

Pretty as a picture, Halle Berry's five month-old daughter Nahla gets her first Paparazzi photo op. With her parents' gene pool, this certainly won't be the last. The camera is going to love this little bumble bee.

Yesterday I got a late-in-the-day text from my BFFF regarding the latest news about Alaskan National Guard Commander-in-chief Sarah Palin. My first response was 'have you been drinking?' and then I added, 'or having you been watching ABC Family channel again?" After some research I realized that what she was saying may or may not be true...but it certainly had the internet buzzing. You can read a couple of versions of it here and there.

Poor Sarah Palin. New York Times' columnists Gail Collins and Maureen Dowd are having the time of their lives making fun of her in some of the wittiest and snarkiest writing I've ever read. Oh, and it turns out the first dude's mother doesn't like her all that well either.

Here's why the liberals have been working overtime writing snark about Sarah. She DOES have an
appeal for a very coveted group of voters...and it makes us freak out enough to say things that we'll regret, Michael Moore.

I knew there was something that was
making me feel fat...I just couldn't put my finger on it.

Cinderellas....meet
your Peter Pans. Yes, I know you ordered a Prince Charming, but the Peter Pan seems to be all that's left on the menu.

Morning Hot Flash August 3, 2008

  • "You can take the girl out of Michigan, but you can't take Michigan out of the girl," the Material Girl said during her weekend visit to the Traverse City Film Festival. Thanks for the great reporting, TMZ! Michael Moore and Madonna aren't from Traverse City, Michigan -- they were both born and raised in the thumb, but once Moore became rich and famous, he realized the error of his upbringing, and moved to the beauty of the northwoods around Traverse City. Madonna's Dad owns a winery in the Leelanau peninsula. And how do I know all this? I'm from Traverse City, and I have the birth certificate to prove it.

  • Finally! The first photo of the Brangelina twins have been posted on the Internets...anybody else think they just look like babies?

  • I had always heard that Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was a secret druggie film. Thanks to the editing wizardry of some guy on YouTube, we all can see the essence of chocolate is cacao.

  • Here's an idea for how Whole Foods can seem less expensive in tight economic times...cut the prices!

  • I'm nursing Charlie Brown's tomato plant out on my patio, but in my delusional mind, my garden looks like this.

Morning Hot Flash August 1, 2008

  • I smashed my piggybank after I heard that Cher has put her Malibu mansion up for sale. Do you think she'll take 42 cents as a deposit on a $45 million home? Wait? I may have a couple of dimes in the seats in my car...

  • The world's most beautiful newborns, Knox and Viv, will make their first scheduled Internet appearance at 7:00 pm EDT on Sunday, August 3, 2008. Please plan your weekend accordingly.

  • I can quit the Internet at anytime. I don't need to check my Facebook page or send Tweets. I'm totally cool.

  • Hockey bad boy and fashionista, Sean Avery, is into cougars. Could some one please slip him my URL?
